tora: (Serious fucking business)
O.M.G. JUST WHEN I THOUGHT THIS FUCKING STATE COULDN'T GET ANY WORSE. There's a law saying it's ILLEGAL to SELL sex toys that's been in the works since 1998. But the reason it's not actually inforced and the sex stores around here are still open is because it hasn't fully been passed yet or something. There's a fight going on about whether or not to fucking get rid of the assine law.

*rolls eyes* I swear to GOD this place is fucking STUPID! There's no smoking in restaurants and bars in some parts of the area I live in and NOW this state is trying to make it to where people have to fucking go to Tennesse or Florida to get a fucking sex toy. It's either that or you order the damn thing off the internet. It's not illegal to OWN a sex toy but if the damn thing DIES or something, you'll have to hop states or use the internet, which takes 2 days to a fucking week to get in depending on how much you wanna pay for shipping. And I'm not really worried about the OMG lack of sex toys in this state but what gets me is how much this government tries to fucking rule EVERY SINGLE INCH OF YOUR LIFE AND THEN SOME.

I'm just waiting for them to make booze illegal in this state and that everyone that lives here has to be a practicing "CHRISTIAN" that attends church EVERY FUCKING DAY for a whole hour.

I don't get the sex toy thing, that's just way too weird. Though you gotta love the random laws that make it okay to own but not to buy. Gotta wonder how people can own things if they can't buy 'em.

I like the smoking bylaws though. Ontario's had them for a few years now and you can't smoke anywhere indoors in a public building or even on a covered patio at bars and such. There was a big uproar about it at first and worries that it would effect the economy, but overall it didn't.

See, sex toys, they don't bother anyone around you but smoking does since the smoke travels and fills rooms and just smells not so pleasant.

When I read this, I felt as if I'm reading someone ranting about Poland. ^^; I did write once that they wanted to ban porn/sex toys here too... and other stuff. ._.; *hugs* I know your pain. :(

I heard about that law, and I think it is ridiculous and generally useless. Its certainly not going to keep anyone from gettting sex toys if they want them, in fact it would probably just serve to increase the demand.

And about the smoking. My whole province banned smoking in all public places, and I like the idea cause its good for the public health, but sex toys? Hardly an area worthy of public concern. Not to mention the blatent sexism in the whole thing, considering that my understanding is that women are the main purchasers of such devices.

Alabama is one intersting state. Dont they make it nearly impossible to get an abortion there? *rolls eyes*

I myself am not REALLY that bothered by the no smoking in restaurants and whatnot. What bothers me is that if the Government is allowed to infringe upon people's personal life like this by worming they're way around the constitution of this country then this state's going to inadvertently become a fucking dictatorship like in V for Vendetta. I swear to God if they could ACTUALLY get away with it, that shit would become real.

There are other states that have had such a law in place. You have to sell them as "novelties". Other places get around it, I'm sure we can too.

As for smoking, well, that started in the crunchy states. And really, restaurants I can understand. Bars.... well, that's kinda gay.
